The 2017 NSCAD Design Show will exhibit 19 emerging designers and their work. The exhibition will showcase the interdisciplinary nature of these young creatives; each with a unique perspective expressed in a range of mediums with diverse skill sets. RSVP here.

Specializing in branding, illustration and printmaking, Nina Balbo's work is influenced by her interest in the relationship between art and design as an approach to problem solving. Working within the two disciplines, ideation is broadened through art making, where a range of ideas are developed to design from. Originally from Winnipeg, MB, Nina currently lives and works in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

JD Boudreau is an emerging illustrator and graphic designer from Halifax, Canada. JD graduated from NSCAD University in 2017 with an interdisciplinary design degree. His work features a combination of physical and digital mediums with a strong emphasis on visual storytelling. JD has freelanced for a variety of companies on projects ranging from mural painting to brand identity.

Jacqui Bush is a designer/illustrator from Montreal, Quebec currently living in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Graduating from NSCAD University with a Bachelors of Design in 2017, she also holds a Diploma of College Studies in Illustration from Dawson College. Her work investigates social issues, with a focus on environmental sustainability. Drawn to grassroots movements, Bush shapes her practice around activism and community insight. She’s worked at NSCAD as a Research Assistant and Multimedia Student Assistant.

Echo Chang is a graphic / illustrator designer who currently lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Graduating from NSCAD University with a Bachelors of Interdisciplinary Design in 2017. She also holds a Bachelor of Advertising Design from Chongqing Technology and Business University in China. Echo has completed an internship with Melon Design Inc.

Taylor Guarda is an interdisciplinary designer from Montreal, Quebec. She graduated from Dawson College in Illustration in 2015 and will graduate with a Bachelor of Design fromNSCAD University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Taylor's work is focused on branding and packagingand shehas developedstrong free hand and digital illustration skills.

Tiff Her is an interdisciplinary designer who has the advantage of learning in the East - South Korea where she is from originally - as well as in the West - Canada. She is focused on logo and branding design as she has experience in designing the corporate identity and various materials for print.

Taylor Hickey is an interdisciplinary designer currently living in Halifax. She specializes in Web Visual, UX/UI and publication design and is receiving a Bachelor of Design from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in April of 2017. Taylor has worked in a design agency environment and has done design work for a youth program.

Grace Laemmler is a graphic designer devoted to editorial design. Originally from Woodstock, Ontario, her studies brought her to NSCAD University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where she focused on graphic design but also explored other disciplines such as jewellery design and metalsmithing, printmaking, and photography. Grace will be graduating in 2017 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in interdisciplinary studies. Grace has worked for advertising firm Cossette, wayfinding firm Form:Media and the Anna Leonowens Gallery.

Yunjung Lee wasborn in Seoul, Korea. She moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia with her family in 2009. Yunjung received a Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Design from NSCAD University in 2017 with a focus in communication and interactive design. She was the recipient ofthe Kelly Franklin Memorial Bursary and the Margiand Rowland Marshall Award for Product Design in 2016.

Karen Lewis is a designer specializing in print, editorial and illustrative identity projects. Her work incorporates technical proficiency and a thoughtful design process with her own playful aesthetic.
Karen has worked as an Intern and Freelance Designer at Cossette, and has worked with clients such as Scotties Tissues and Alexander Keith’s Brewery in her own freelance practice. She holds a Bachelor of Design from Nova Scotia College of Art & Design, and an Advanced Diploma in Graphic Design from Fanshawe College.

Daniel Lurvey is a designer who specializes in print, publication, and digital media. Originally from Portland, Oregon, he studied graphic design at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (2016) and is receiving his Bachelor of Design from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (2014–2017). His work is influenced by his work in the cycling industry as a CNC-machine operator as well as his training in engineering and architectural drafting.

Dylan Pemberton is a graphic designer who is currently living in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Dylan has a strong passion for typography and a keen eye for bold modern design. His specialties include branding, advertising, and typography. Dylan has also completed two internships with Cossette Inc. and Melon Design.

Becky Ryan is a graphic designer and illustrator living and working in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She began her studies in Media and Communications at the University of Western Ontario before transferring to the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design where she received a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Design in 2017. Becky has experience as a freelance illustrator and is well versed in the Adobe Creative Suite, while she works traditionally in ink and watercolour in her illustrative practice. Becky was the recipient of the The Horst Depp Award (2016), Amber Harkin Memorial Award (2016), and the Ontario Scholar Award (2012).

Meg Spindler is a Graphic Designer from London, Ontario, currently working and living in Halifax, Nova Scotia. In April 2017, she will receive her Bachelors of Design, Major in Interdisciplinary Design from NSCAD University. Meg currently works as a freelance designer with clients ranging from Universities to Startup websites. Meg is a member of both the Registered Graphic Designers and Canadian Graphic Designers.

Madison Strong will graduate from NSCAD University with a Bachelors Degree in Design in 2017. As an aspiring high school teacher with a focus in design, she draws on her graphic design practice to inform her pedagogical approach. Madison is currently a graphic design intern at Cossette Media in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Anna-Gabrielle Tremblay is a graphic designer living and working in Halifax. She received a Bachelor degree in interdisciplinary design from the Nova Scotia College of Art in 2017. She has experience as a freelance designer and has done work for both the McGill Cycling team, and RCR Hospitality. Anna-Gabrielle is a multidisciplinary designer and is passionate about branding, editorial design, spatial design, art direction, and typography.

Zixi Wang recently received here Bachelor of Design from NSCAD University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Wang is a graphic designer and front-end web developer with an interest in print matter, layout, web and experimental design in UI/UX using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. She is skilled in developing design concepts and fluent in Adobe Creative Suite.

Chris Shangqing Yan is a 3D Designer who specializes in product, rendering, animation and interactive service design. Originally from Changsha China, Chris recently studied at the University of Applied Sciences Schwäbisch Gmünd in Germany on a one year exchange program and will receive his Bachelor of Design from NSCAD University in 2017. He has worked as a 3D print technician and product design assistant for the Health and Aging Design Lab in Halifax and has specialized skills in CAD and CAM programs, 3D printing, 3D animation and interactive service.

Rachel Rui Zhou is a graphic and web designer living in Halifax, Canada. She holds a degree in Oil Painting studies from Si Chuan Normal University in China and is expected to graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Design, from NSCAD University.
